Kek Lok Si Temple (极乐寺)

Kek Lok Si (极乐寺, Temple of Supreme Bliss) is the hill temple Penang actually uses for worship and the one first-timers photograph. Founded in the 1890s at Air Itam. Pagoda and inclined lift take a small extra (directory: RM2 each). Locals come for the temple. Tour buses arrive from mid-morning. Walk it early, then grab a car to the Penang Hill lower station. CNY illumination is an event, not a new place row. This is an attraction, not a mall.
