A 270-degree LED panorama wraps around the dining room, and each act of the show corresponds to a chapter of the city's history, from the day Francis Light claimed the island, through waves of migration, the Japanese occupation, cultural collisions and the city's rise. The food is choreographed to the narrative rather than served as a separate dinner, and the show is primarily performed in Mandarin with subtle local dialects woven in for cultural authenticity. The menu is fixed, but dietary restrictions are accommodated if flagged at least 48 hours in advance via WhatsApp. The kitchen is the same team behind UNMEI Japanese, the operator running UMI UMI, so the cooking leans East Asian with Penang heritage notes rather than straight Peranakan. Earlier After Dark runs this year included Kavin Jay LIVE, THE MADgicians and Magic Way, so the venue is using the immersive dining theatre set as a flexible cabaret room outside the main show's hours.
